New Video: Nas Visits Hennessy in Cognac, France

He's not a connoisseur, he just knows what he likes.

Nas recently travelled across the pond to Cognac, France where the Hennessy distillery produces the fine spirit. Nas was invited to check out the process of cognac and even got to create his own blend and taste of Hennessy. Man, that's dope!

New Joint: "Let Nas Down" (Remix) - J. Cole featuring Nas

"That's some advice I never got/ If I don't sell another record I just steady rock/While you was writing down my rhymes, I was just trying to show you /that if you say what's on your mind, You can stand the test of time/" - Nas
Man, I'm buggin' out. Last week I copped J.Cole's sophmore album release "Born Sinner", and one of my new favorite tracks is the highly buzzed about track "Let Nas Down". Within days, the Godson Nas  blessed the original version, with a remix of his own. #MadeNasProud

Wow, there's really nothing to say. If you're hip hop head like me, you're extremely amazed by the power behind the lyrics in both versions of the track. What a huge moment for hip hop.

New Joint: "Let Nas Down" - J.Cole

In one word, this song is epic. After his highly anticipated upcoming album release "Born Sinner" leaked just over a week earlier then scheduled, what could be a negative factor for some J. Cole flipped  in to a positive opportunity by uploading the entire album for a free full stream on his YouTube account. Smart move.

This song in particular, "Let Nas Down", has just become one of my instant favorites. J. Cole displays some powerful story telling ability, lyrical prowess and throws in some catchiness to top it all off on this extremely deep track about an artist who got to meet their childhood idol. Enjoy.

New Joint: "Hip Hop" - DJ Khaled feat. Scarface, Nas & DJ Premier

Speaking of dope music... Nah, fuck that. Words cannot describe how disgustingly sick and amazing this track is. I love it. This shit speaks for it self really.

DJ Khaled puts together an all-star collaboration of hip hop legends in which this track features two of the lyrically deepest verses that I bet you're ass has not heard in a long time. Scarface and Nas share their true feelings about hip hop, with some ill scratches laced by DJ Premier.

Video Trailer: "Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap"

It's not too often that I see a movie trailer that sparks my interest enough to actually get me into a theatre. But this morning I found a preview for a hip-hop documentary directed and hosted by Ice-T named "Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap". It looks like it could be a really cool documentary. It has a bunch of notable emcees as guest speakers such as Eminem, Nas, KRS-One and many others. All true hip-hop heads should check this movie trailer out!

New Video: DJ Premier + Classical Music = Composing Track For Nas & Berklee School of Music Orchestra (Trailer)

DJ Premier is a legend. Even the legends still take the time to work towards building on their already legendary resumes. This man's work ethic is epic.
RE:GENERATION is a feature length documentary that explores the history of music through the eyes of five modern DJ/Producers. The extremely talented DJs embark on a musical odyssey to create a cutting edge electronic track inspired by one of five traditional musical genres: Jazz, R&B, Country, Classical and Rock. In addition to Skrillex working with The Doors, the project, which is actually co-produced by the Grammys, brought in DJ Premier to produce a classical track with Nas and the Berklee School of Music Orchestra; Pretty Lights, who produced a country song with Leann Rimes and Ralph Stanley; the Crystal Method, who traveled to Detroit to record an R&B track with Martha Reeves; and Mark Ronson, who collaborated with Erykah Badu, members of the Dap Kings and Trombone Shorty for a jazz tune in New Orleans. The documentary will premiere in early 2012 and will most likely be a big part of the Grammys next year.

Rap Recording Artist Nas Heading Back To High School

Rap recording artist Nas recently took time to spread a positive message to the youth of the "Boys and Girls club" regarding the importance of education at a conference in Pittsburgh, PA.

The poetical hip hop icon described details of his personal life, admitting his regrets of failing to follow though with graduating high school. While the superstar has had a very successful career, he acknowledges the relevance of education required to improve and personally fulfill life in and out of the rap music business.

Now, the rapper intends to go back and successfully receive his high school credits and diploma. “The reality of it is, you need to keep educating yourself, and I wish I had stayed in school,” Nas shared, continuing on to say “Be your own leader.”

R&B sensation Ne-Yo was also present at the youth conference with Nas, where both recording artists participated in encouraging young people to be leaders and build up their communities through community service.

This is a very strong and positive message. Indie artists every where should be aware of how taking up serious and just causes can improve the overall image of your brand and/or music. Not only is it good to take up noble causes on behalf of your business, but it is also personally fulfilling as well. The benefits are too good to be ignored.
