New Video: Hard Act To Follow: Maestro Fresh Wes & Bishop Brigante

This is a great short documentary type video that is presented by CBC Music. "Hard Act To Follow" is the story of two Canadian hip hop artists who have successfully made the transition from making music to acting on TV and the big screen.

Through tremendous work ethic and talent, Maestro Fresh Wes and Bishop Brigante have both been able to penetrate the acting and film industry with the disadvantage of being a rap recording artist trying to make the switch. However, they have proven to be successful and chronicle the details of their rise in this great short interview.

New Joint: "Stranger" - Maestro Fresh Wes featuring Saukrates (Produced by Saukrates)

This track right here is just evidence of how long talented Canadian Hip Hop artists have amazingly gone over-looked and under-rated. The two hip hop legends from Toronto have also been around for a long time, Maestro since '87 and Bigg Soxx since '94 (roughly).

Maestro Fresh Wes and Saukrates are parts of the foundation of hip hop music in Canada. So why have these guys just never received the recognition that they deserve? To see them still going strong these days, it's not only incredible - it's inspiring.

Here is a really sick collaboration track from Maestro Fresh Wes's upcoming album "Orchestrated Noise". "Stranger" is produced by and features Saukrates. That piano sound in this beat is just dirty (I love it).

Canadian Hip Hop Star Maestro Fresh Wes Defends Lyrics On HipHopCanada

After giving so much to the hip hop movement in Canada for the past quarter century, this actor/rap recording artist shouldn't have to explain or defend him self, period. Although he did make a statement on HipHopCanada.com to defend his lyrics
Here are some of the words taken from the statement made by the Canadian hip hop icon:
Just to set the record straight, I've been involved in this game for over 25 years professionally and I can honestly say I have never dissed any Canadian MC on a track. I don't get down like that....I'm from the era of Rakim, LL Cool J, Slick Rick, Kool Moe Dee, and Krs One and this was a time when an MC was supposed to state he is the greatest. My track was nothing but straight up Ol Skool MC'ing.
Read the whole statement here: http://www.hiphopcanada.com/_site/community/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9495268

This is the track by Classified which features Maestro Fresh Wes alongside fellow Canadian hip hop artists Choclair and Moka Only. Apparently, someone, somewhere took direct offense to 'Stro's lyrics on the track (what happen to the freedom of speaking your mind?).

Anyhow, being the humble man that rap artist/actor Maestro Fresh Wes is, he took the time out to set the record straight. You have got to admire the amount of respect that this man has for his peers, good for him.
