Eminem Track Used By Microsoft Xbox360 Commercial For C.O.D. Modern Warfare 2

"Til I Collapse" written and performed by Eminem featuring Nate Dogg is from the album "the Eminem Show". This particular track is used here to promote the new blockbuster game Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 by the Xbox360 of Microsoft Corporation.

Having the funds to properly market this already highly anticipated game, it's no surprise Microsoft decided to use an Eminem song to promote their new million dollar baby. The rap superstar has an unmistakable voice, catching viewers attention instantly. I know this.

How, you ask ? I just so happen to be sitting in the living room, working on my laptop, when I heard the rap artist's song coming from a TV commercial. It caught my attention immediately, considering the last TV commercial I saw which featured an Eminem track was for the iPod by Apple, who wound up getting sued and settling out of court with the rapper's music publishing company.

For more details on that, check out my article on the subject: 8 Mile Style Lawsuit Against Apple

Hopefully Microsoft acquired the proper synchronization license, or else they are going to run into some legal trouble. What do you think ? Leave your two cents.

Apple Settles Out of Court With Music Publisher Eight Mile Style

Although details have remained concealed, a settlement has been reached between Apple and Eight Mile Style LLC, after a brief outing with the courts. As per my previous post on this subject, I thought I would present this short follow up.

Eight Mile Style is the music publishing company which represents the interests in a music catalog containing a number of tracks created by superstar rap artist Eminem. Corporate giant Apple, thought they had secured a deal with Aftermath Entertainment, to use certain Eminem recordings for commercials promoting their iPod products, as well as the right to sell the tracks through their iTunes program.

Unfortunately, this whole debacle ensued due to the fact that Aftermath Entertainment did not in fact an owning interest in the tracks named specifically. Those rights are held by Eight Mile Style, LLC, who went on to file suit against Apple.

A new deal is apparently to be re-structured, so what's the big deal ? Well aside from a few million dollars during a recession, nothing. It's some Shady shit. Welcome to the rap game.

The Courtship Continues, Eminem's Eight Mile Style LLC Vs. Apple

Apple is being sued for using certain Eminem recordings for their iTunes commercials, while making a number of songs available for download on the iTunes platform. What's the problem ? Apparently, Apple did not acquire the proper persmissions to use the songs from the publishing company which holds those rights, Eight Mile Style, LLC.

After failing to reach a settlement agreement earlier this week, the two companies are now headed to trial. Eminem's music publishing company first filed suit back in 2007 against Apple for illegal use of the copyrights.

The twist ? Aftermath Entertainment is also being sued for alledgedly providing Apple with permission to use the recordings, although Aftermath did not own or share in the ownership of these copyrights in the first place. Say what ? Now that's some Shady shit.
