Upcoming Event: Tri-Cities Producer Showcase - Beat Battle 4th Edition


Street Hop Radio presents the upcoming Tri-Cities Producer Showcase. This live event is the 4th edition of the beat battles that have been taking place down at Maxwell's Music House at 220 King St. North in Waterloo. 

Come check out this event where 8 beat makers will square off in a battle for a cash prize plus a chance to win a 1 hour photo-shoot with photographer Matt McCarl. The event is 19+ and $10 admission at the door, sponsored by McCarl Photography

Upcoming Event: Street Hop Presents: Tri-Cities Producer Showcase 3 Beat Battle Edition


Press Release:
The Tri Cities Producer Showcase has been a great success for the region's talented hip hop scene and we are back again on Saturday Aug 25th at Maxwell's Music House in downtown Waterloo! We will have 16 producer battle it out in 4 rounds of action for a cash prize of $300 and 1 hour Photo Session with McCarl Photography.

At the last event we had a fantasic battle with A. Jones and MisterE in the finals. The new Champ is MisterE! As always DJ Carmelo will be holding down the music and also doing the hosting this month. We will also have a live performance by Dice Gio and Klue. The doors open at 9 pm and it's $10 cover with ID.

Sean Price Invites Fans to 'Name The Sean Price Dance' Contest [Video]


During Random Axe's performance at Royal Arena this past Friday in Switzerland, Sean Price stunned the fans with a new dance. Tweet your suggestion for the dance's name to @DuckDownMusic and Sean will choose his favorite one. Winner will be credited for naming the dance on duckdown.com and will receive a signed Random Axe CD. This video was taken by a random fan with Sean's iPad.

King of the Dot Presents World Domination 2: North America Vs. The World on Aug 5th & 6th in Toronto

The second annual World Domination freestyle battle tournament presented by King of the Dot will take place on Friday August 5th and Saturday August 6th at Club XS on 261 Richmond St. in Toronto.
The international freestyle battle competition will feature some of the biggest freestyle battle names in KOTD history. Hosted by Organik, Ryan PVP and Bishop Brigante, the two day long event will also feature beat box battles, live comedy skits, graffiti sessions and more!

Special guest judges include; Army of the Pharaohs, Slaine, Reef the Lost Cause, Sabac Red, Jus Allah, Jaysaun, Yaz & Soul Khan. What a HUGE line up of judges!

New Video: "So Easy" - Tez McClain Hosted by Don Cannon


Tez recently shot another video from his acclaimed debut mixtape, 'Wishful Thinking Vol. 1.' The clip—directed by Filmed by A Tall Guy Films, Chilly-O Inc—features Tez spazzing out over an Anita Baker vocal sample in the midst of a classic house party (check the classic movie playing in the background as well).

In other news, Tez has been selected as a finalist to perform at the 2nd annual One Music Festival in Atlanta, GA on August 27th. Tez’ talent shined through enough so that the festival organizers chose him as one of the 11 finalists out of hundreds of contestants.

HearJapan Launches Remix Contest With Denkitribe


Yokohama, Japan - August 9th, 2010 – HearJapan is teaming up with one of YouTube's biggest stars to give you the tools to be the next big sensation!

M4TC: Derived is the debut album from Denkitribe, the 30th most subscribed Japanese musician on YouTube. A master of electronic music making devices, Denkitribe has inspired people all over the world to take matters into their own hands and make their own music. M4TC: Derived is the culmination of his effort and DIY spirit.

Denkitribe is also releasing M4TC: Derived under a Creative Commons license. Each track will be made available on a site dedicated to this release (see below). There you can download the full stems, full source, ableton files and more. Not only is he letting you see exactly how he makes each track, a rarity in today's music world, but through a CC license he is letting YOU remix the tracks. The album title, M4TC means Music For The Commons. You can use his music in any way you like and even sell it on HearJapan or in your local record store. As long as you keep his name on the release with a remixed by tag you are free to do whatever you like. How cool is that?!?

In this spirit of shared celebration, HearJapan is also running an M4TC: Derived remix contest! All you have to do to win 20,000yen in credit is to get the remix parts, record your song and upload it to YouTube. One winner will be chosen from the one with the most views and another will be chosen by Denkitribe himself!

Book The Band Contest Wants To Pay You To Open For T.I., Ludacris & Others


Want to open for some high profile artists such as Ludacris, T.I. and M.I.A.? Opening for a superstar artist would be great! But, do you have the connections to pull it off?

Producer Darkchild & Blazetrak.com Present Digital Music Talent Search

Producer Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins is now working with some serious super-producer talent to launch a digital music talent search.

The action starts tomorrow, August 1st on www.Blazetrak.com. The entry fee is a $100, which helps to narrow down the more legitimate contest entries. Also it pays for the guaranteed video response and make the feedback.

The contest will run for the whole month of August, the winner will be announced on October 1st via the UStream video platform. The winning artist is set to negotiate a new publishing deal with Darkchild/RJ Productions LLC.

Here is a pretty good battle that went almost 20 minutes between emcee's Kid Twist from Toronto and Dumbfounded out of Los Angeles. Honestly this is one of the best KOTD battles I've ever seen, and despite the outcome I thought both emcee's brought some good punchlines.

Xzibit & Dj Skee Partner Up With Indaba Music, Monster Cables & Blue Microphones For "Hurt Locker" Remix Contest

Here's a new update to the "Hurt Locker" Remix Contest that I posted about earlier last week. Indaba Music, along with Blue Microphones and Monster Cable with the help of trend setting Dj Skee are announcing the Xzibit "Hurt Locker" Remix Contest.

Eminem Teams With Red Bull For "EmSee: Road To 8 Mile" Competition

Eminem has teamed up with Red Bull to present the "EmSee: Road To 8 Mile" rap battle competition. Hosted by Shade 45′s Angela Yee, the contest will begin Monday June 21st, which is the same day that Eminem's newest studio release "Recovery" will officially be released.

Also performing at the competition will be a special show presented by Slaughterhouse. The finals of the battle will feature the winning emcee's of each area in a showdown at St. Andrews Hall in Dertoit. The final winner will have the chance to create a new track with a unannounced "top producer".
