New Joint: "Over" - Dice Raw (Produced by Khari Mateen)

On the heels of his 2013 Grammy nomination for his contributions to The Roots album, "Undun", Dice Raw is currently putting the finishing touches on a concept album entitled "Jimmie's Back", inspired by the New York Times bestselling book, "The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Color Blindness" by Michelle Alexander.

The first single, "OVER", features a crooning Dice Raw on the hook, in between his always clever but simplistically-easy flow on this tune about giving up.

As a lifelong resident of Philadelphia, Dice Raw is no stranger to the perils of the streets. Though his own story is one of triumph, with the album "Jimmie's Back", Dice is painting his own unique picture of the plight of men in urban environments. Through song, his take on the struggles, temptations, and injustices suffered by all is one for the ages.

"Jimmie's Back" is laced with Dice Raw's signature, reality-packed lyrics. Like its namesake-inspired book, "The New Jim Crow", the project is soul mixed with angst, and fans of Dice Raw are sure to linger over the stellar, emotion-heavy production of Grammy-nominated producer Khari Mateen of The Roots, Black Thought's group in development - The Wurxs, and others.

Dice Raw's "Jimmie's Back" album drops on Wednesday June 19th.
