Public Enemy Announces New Album Release, Joint Fundraiser With SellABand.com

Ground breaking hip hop group Public Enemy is planning to release a new album. This is amazing news, considering the group's first release 'Yo ! Bum rush the show' was released the same year I was born, in 1987. More intriguing though is the fact that Chuck D and Flava Flav are inviting fans to support the creation process by becoming financial investors.

In an interesting joint venture with SellaBand.com, Public Enemy will be accepting donations from fans. The group's goal is to raise approximately $250,000 to fund the making and distribution of their next album release.

For the dedicated fans who invest their money, they will receive limited edition copies. These copies should include a package of features, which still need to be determined. Amazingly, in only two short weeks the site has raised over $55,000 in funds for Public Enemy's new record.

All in all SellABand has raised a staggering 2.5 million dollars for bands and recording artists around the world. Seems that people are open to the idea of investing in the future success of new artists. Would you use this model as a method to generate funding for your album ?
