New Video: Recap of Manifesto 2011 (5 Year Anniversary)

I let my self down last year, by not making it out for any of these events at the five year anniversary of the Manifesto festival in Toronto. That's why I'm making it my personal mission to attend many of the amazing events that will be taking place this year.
Born out of the idea of allowing the city’s young and emerging artists to showcase their talent on a bigger platform with a unified voice, The Manifesto Festival of Community and Culture celebrated its 5 year anniversary in 2011, from September 15th-25th in Toronto Canada.

The festival has grown over the past 5 years and we have something very unique and special planned for 2012. While you are here, let’s take a journey down memory lane and check out Manifesto Festival Recaps from year 1-4.

Intellectual Property Task Force Launched By U.S. Department of Justice

In an effort to set up more protective measures to combat the theft of intellectual property, the US Department of Justice has just recently launched a new "Task Force" to battle against copyright piracy and theft, which is an increasingly problematic issue for the music industry.

In Washington, DC. the Task Force was assembled and briefed by Eric Holder, the US Attorney General, who made a statement. "The rise in intellectual property crime in the United States and abroad threatens not only our public safety but also our economic well being.". His message falling on the ears of other "old men" who do not even understand the true potential of the Internet but were still present in the meeting. All "they" (the people having these meetings and making these tremendous decisions) know is that they want to monopolize control, and not let you, or I, or any of us keep control in our own hands, the people's hands.

Since the late 90's Internet technology has created a huge rift in the copyright law debate. Back in December of 2009, Vice President Joe Biden participated in a discussion with a roster of notable intellectual property owners from all sorts of companies spanning the entertainment industry.

Unfortunately there were no representatives from any consumer or technology driven organizations to add in their valuable two cents. The key words here are "intellectual property owners", who were present for this meeting, while "intellectual property creators" movers makers and shakers are left to (apparently) eat shit. Well, considering we are all the ones who USE the internet the most, you'd think some of us would get a say.

At this point, nobody even knows the exact job description of this IP task force, or what their priority targets and objectives will be. United States Vice President Joe Biden made a statement concerning the new task force, saying "This administration is committed to stronger and stricter enforcement of intellectual property rights, and this new task force is a step in the right direction,". Right, like his old ass knows what the right direction is? (Yea, that's right, I said it.)

Consumer Electronic Show In Vegas, Recording Artists Launch Products & Announce New Partnerships

The International Consumer Electronics Show is an annual event, taking place at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is a haven for big technology companies and superstar recording artists to make new deals, announce partnerships and launch new products. It's also a kick ass event to be a part of as you get to browse through all the latest gadgets that are about to hit the market.

Many superstar artists take part in the event, as it is useful to invest the time and efforts into a partnership which could have incredible advantages to your future music marketing campaigns.

Not only is it a clever strategy, it is just good business to make these type of investments, providing you've done thorough research and product development for your target market.

Among some notable product launches this year, were the expansion of the Monster Beats By Dr.Dre headphone line. Lady GaGa participated by starting the launch promoting the new set in red.

Monster Beats By Dr.Dre Solo RED HD Head Phones. Five dollars from the $230 pair is donated to aids research in Africa.(That's it?)

The Beats Spin, are a new comfortable pair for the hard working class Dj's.

Dr.Dre and Diddy also collaborated on a new head phone set of ear buds, check them out. Here is a video of the new product line expansion.

All in all the show was probably amazing. I have a friend who was there personally promoting his company's products. Hopefully he is doing well, and I'm sure I will hear all about it when he returns.
