New Video: "Don't Call Me" by Rakim, DMX, Shontelle & Aleks D

Awww yeaa. I thought this was such a sick conglomeration of a lot of elements. You got Rakim bringing his legendary lyrical skills and wisdom, DMX bringing his raw energy, and Shontelle with a hot voice bringing in the hook. The beat was crazy too bringing in that guitar solo. I really liked the all around feel of the video, with close ups on the guitar and just showin em in the studio. Some real hip-hop shit. Check it.

New Joint: "What's Wrong?" - Marco Polo featuring Rakim

“What’s Wrong,” was initially produced and recorded for Rakim’s “Seventh Seal” (2009) LP, but due to clearance issues was nixed from the retail release of the project. It has since sat dormant until Rakim gave the track back to Marco Polo and he decided to use it for his forthcoming free-LP “Newport Authority 2”.

As Marco Polo states: “I’ve recorded so much quality material over the last few years and I really want to share it all. It couldn't all possibly fit on “Port Authority 2”; hence “Newport Authority 2” came to be.”

“Newport Authority 2” will feature appearances from Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Artifacts, Das Efx, Lil Fame (M.O.P.), Torae & Ruste Juxx all rocking over Marco Polo’s production.

Iconic Hip Hop Artists & Group Set To Rock The Bells With Classic Albums

Guerilla Union recently released the roster of rappers that will perform live at this year’s Rock The Bells festival. Legendary hip hop artists KRS-One, Rakim, Slick Rick and the Wu-Tang Clan have all signed on to headline the annual Rock The Bells tour.

Performing their classic albums "Criminal Minded" (KRS-One), "Paid In Full" (Rakim) and "The Great Adventures of Slick Rick" (Slick Rick), these iconic hip hop performers will also hit the stage with hip hop's most influential and international group the Wu-Tang Clan who will perform their debut album "Enter The Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers".

Also performing in the festival, supporting acts include: Clipse, Murs, 9th Wonder, Immortal Technique, Jedi Mind Tricks, DJ Muggs with Ill Bill and many more.

"Our goal is to always present something that is historic. This year’s show is the epitome of that tradition.”

There will also be a Freestyle Session and B-Boy performances live at the festival. The 2010 Rock the Bells festival will launch on August 21st in California.

Rap Legend Rakim Still Grinding, Sets Release Date of "Seventh Seal"

What should you expect when a legendary rap artist decides it's his turn to shine in 2009 ? Believe that he'll be paid in full ! Superstar rapper and hip hop icon Rakim has announced a date for the release of his highly anticipated album "The Seventh Seal".



Originally this album was going to be released years ago through the hip hop giant record label Aftermath, distributed through Inter scope. However, due to creative difference, Rakim left the label to pursue his creative visions for this album.

Rakim has stated that this new album is completely fresh with all new joints. None of the songs from his time at Aftermath have made it onto the album. Although the rap superstar never rules out working out with super producer Dr.Dre in the future. "No doubt, if the timing on the projects are right.".

Now, in 2009 the album is about to finally come to fruition. A joint venture between Rakim's own Ra Records label and Tuscan Villa Entertainment. "The Seven Seals" will be distributed through Fontana/Universal Music Group.

"Holy Are You" is the first single off of the album, which was scheduled to be released on July 28th. To no body's surprise the single leaked way before then. Peep the man, the icon is still on the grind and getting paid. Although the lyrical mastermind is more on the spiritual tip, his music still resonates with fans all over the hip hop world.
