The Consequences of Your Commitments, Rap Artist DMX Sued for $1 Million

In the rap music business, there are many lessons one can only learn through experience. Any celebrity or independent artist can learn the same lesson, but by a different scale of consequences.

Take for an example, an indie rap artist who intentionally misses out on a scheduled performance. This will surely have negative consequences for this artist and his/her brand. Simply put, it is just not good business to miss or back out of an engagement you have previously committed to attending. It's also shitty for your publicity.

Hardcore rap pioneer DMX, recently out of prison as well as rehab, was scheduled to perform in a celebrity boxing match in Birmingham, Alabama. Unfortunately for the rap superstar, as a result of his refusal to take part, a lawsuit is the consequence.

By backing out of the celebrity boxing match that he agreed to participate in, he will now be forced to pay an undetermined amount in damages for breach of contract, as well as legal fee`s for both him self and the defendants. The damages are reportedly in the million dollar range

The only thing that works in favor of DMX is, this is totally his persona at work. He would not be Dark Man X if he acted any other way. Sometimes it`s hard to break that curse, where your fans expect that type of publicity and exposure to set the bar.
